13. O.K., they don't call me "Trouble" for nothing: not the KLG part, the Meredith part...

Kathy Lee has that tarnished, bitter edge that made her more interesting from when she was unscorned by her trophy husband. Well, not *that* interesting. She's a scrambler, always out there hustling, but sort of pitiful. The Broadway show she'd been pounding out for years bit the dust, and there were bits about how she was at every performance (not to mention every SECOND of the production), even in the lobby hustling. There's just SHLOCK about her: After the holy Hades she made of the trophy husband's betrayal, NOW when another celebrity couple has had a similar meltdown (who is Peter COOK and who is he married to, former HUGH model? I don't know these people, have NO idea who COOK is, but his name is easy to remember), Kathy Lee delivered a lecture, "NOBODY CARES (about your scandal). Just STOP calling attention to yourself, NOBODY CARES." Uh... no, Kathy Lee doesn't care because it's not HER scandal!1 She whined her way off of the Regis & KL show because she said she was just aching and bursting to do something creative herself instead of hosting tons of creative guests with projects. So what did she do, go co-host ANOTHER subway stop.

O.K., here's where Trouble talks: Meredith has had gravitas from Day 1 (60 Minutes?). She radiates intelligence. But (here we go) *HOW* many jobs has she quit -- jobs that just about everybody would kill for? Yes, the reasons have always been noble: CBS, because of breastfeeding; The View, O.K. to go to Today; something (not a Quit) to caretake? or plain old MAGNIFICENTLY-Helpmeet her husband with M.S.; Millionaire, who knows/cares, enough money/time to go/whatever? Starr JONES seemed clingy/needy onto Meredith who tried not to be embarrassed, but the embarrassment seemed to extend to most of The View. Besides, the fly in the soup was Millionaire, like her STATURE combined with Millionaire?!1 But the serial quitting, it's almost like she's TOO GOOD for everything, just the slightest little tad of that, that after awhile almost suggests the Classiest Kid in High School.

Maybe I can redeem myself with this: For all the carping I'm doing here on the quitting thing, the thing she doesn't ever seem to have quit is her family (husband and way proud of her kids).
