A common Hollywood business model is to "rediscover" characters from peoples youths and repackage them when they hit their '50s. So you get "remakes" of Adams family, Starsky and Hutch, etc. It isn't really beyond the pale to wonder if they'll ever do movies with the themes of "what happened to..." Breakfast club, St. Elmo's fire, War Games, Fast Times, Pretty Woman, etc. are all serious foder for this kind of business model.
