(21,925 posts)117. Anyone know what fumigated olives are?
I can't even find them through Google. When I was in my early twenties, I went on the road in my rock band and we toured the state of Texas. I remember that the band stayed for 6 weeks on the cow pastured outskirts of Dallas and that the only food available around our cheap motel was at a kind of Armenian or Middle Eastern store that had very weird-sounding food. They had a big sign outside that advertised things like "Tahini Borgul" and something else called "Fumigated Olives". They had several barrels full of these "fumigated olives" inside and they apparently were a big seller. I never got up the nerve to try them. I still wonder what kinds of fumes they were subjected to.

Um, sounds great. Used to make it with gravy and rice though. People loved it.

Wow. That's weird. Tempeh is almost as mild as tofu. Miso rocks. You can add it to anything.

By me Kishka is Jewish blood sausage. We are practically related. There is some crossover.
