For when the features on the tv don't work properly anymore? Or in case it's faster or has a stronger signal? Unless it's a lot more expensive to get the player w/wifi.

Just wondering, though...if you won't be streaming (isn't that what Netflix & hulu are all about?), why get a smart tv? Did you mean you won't be streaming thru the blue ray?
