(18,111 posts)A lot of the things I've bought were because of what I've seen on the Food Network. That's great product placement for you. My food mill I've only used once. It's an Oxo. What kind did you get? I really wanted one of those stainless steel ones that Barefoot Contessa used. I remember recording her show and rewinding the part over and over again where it showed the product name, but wound up going with the Oxo -- forgot why.
Then there's the Mandolin thingie. First trip out, I got quite a slice out of my thumb with it as I looked over my shoulder at something and it slipped. Be careful with that one, folks! I still use it for potato gratins, but not as much as I thought I would compared to how they use them on TV.
The KitchenAid sausage maker I've used only once. I swear I'm going to break that thing out again. It was fun to use, but I trimmed too much fat off the pork and the sausage was a little dry. Last month I finally broke down and got their pasta press and cutters and have played around with it, but it's not a habit yet.
Then there's a pan I got from Williams Sonoma about 2 years ago, along with a cookbook, and I haven't used them yet. It's for those little round pancakes called Ebelskivers. One of these days. At least my ice cream maker was a hand-me-down from my mom. I might use that more one of these days too, lol.
