I like Sci-Fi and Fantasy because I like to think that there are a lot more possibilities out there then the world that we live in. Statistically I don't think that this is the only populated planet in the universe. I like to think that there are other lifeforms in the universe as well.
Consider the possibility that Sci-Fi and Fantasy can show you the possibilities of what might be and enables you to broaden your thought process. Progress is best obtained by open minded people who can think outside of the box.

I was in my late 20s before I saw Star Wars. I too have never seen Harry Potter, or read it.
