when we were at the big dog park half an hour from my home. Only without the ridge of fur on the back. Other than his eyeballs, there was not one speck of him not covered in slimy clay mud. I didn't know how I was going to get him home. I walked him down the street hoping to find somebody out hosing their garden, but no luck. Then I got the the food store at the corner and spotted a spigot on the back of the building. Thank. Dog. It was late Sunday so the place was closed and the parking lot empty, so I washed him there. Had the place to myself until some nosy kid came by on a bike and yelled, "Hey are you giving your dog a bath?" Well what the eff does it look like I'm doing?!? 
So anyway, by the time I was done he was clean and I only had the mud he had spattered on me by shaking repeatedly while we were walking down the street 
Which was a fair amount, but tolerable...
