(43,850 posts)62. I had cousins who raised calves and lambs for 4H.
They'd get fond of them but always knew exactly what would happen once they were sold. And having made that money gave them some pride. They gave their critters very good lives and appreciated what their short lives gave to them. I learned a lot about that kind of pragmatism. And as I said, my line is drawn elsewhere. Abusing them, now that's difficult. I try to eat humanely dealt with animals, but I know there are no guarantees.
