I just joined Facebook. I feel a series of headaches coming on... [View all]

Yes I know I'm a johnny come lately to that place but I felt it had to be done. As soon as I signed up there were several people waiting to be my friends. Now I have several friends, many I haven't seen or communicated with for years. Can I just send them a note saying hi and what's been happening without it becoming part of some public thread?

I don't have a scanner or digital camera yet so uploading pics is a hassle. I have to figure out how the site works but that would mean I spend all my time there...I prefer the old days when I could just send someone an email! Am I supposed to acknowledge being added as a friend? If not is that a breach of ettiquette?

And what about my homepage? It's not done at all. Are people going to cruise by and take a look and think I'm a lazy slacker because there's not much there? I haven't had regular internet accessibility for years and years mainly because I've been poor and I think I've bitten off more than I can chew. Who wants to know I've been poor?

I somehow listed "The Who" as a like but I don't like The Who all that much. So I had to "unlike" The Who and the space is left blank noting that I "unliked" The Who. I don't unlike The Who, I just don't like them that much to "like" them. I mean, I don't need this, really...

To tell you the truth, I don't to like to spend to spend much time typing out words to a bunch of faceless people on the internet. I like to draw and paint pictures. I can post scans of some of my artwork there but they are large (1 MB+)...Plus I figure I'd have to explain what it is, etc.

But now I'm obligated, I guess...like I said, there's a bunch of headaches coming soon!
