5. Thoughts on buying tampons for love

There was a blog I followed a couple years ago, about a guy who was doing extreme couponing to donate to food banks. Along the way, he decided to try to eat for a month on a dollar a day. At day 15, he had to buy tampons in his coupon deal to be able to get peanut butter.

"It is a well known fact that men do not buy tampons, yet I found myself doing just that (not to mention the pantiliners in the basket as well) in order to make it possible for me to get some free peanut butter. I realize that by admitting that I have done this as part of the challenge, no man is ever going to attempt this challenge again. Most would rather starve to death than pick up pantiliners and tampons at the store for any reason, let alone a jar of peanut butter. I’m having serious doubts about my own sanity and manliness. ... I see a very bleak future for myself when it comes to having to shop for tampons "

Here's his followup story on buying pads: http://www.grocerycouponguide.com/articles/ashamed-at-my-embarrassment/

Anyway. For love: I bit my tongue when we had get family togethers with my excessively racist inlaw. He was 80 or so at the time, there wasn't much point in trying to change his views, he's deceased now anyway. But let's just say he and Paula Deen would have gotten along just fine.
