9. It may have been a media message

Someone trying to send you a photo or video clip. Could have been spam. I get cell spams on occasion but I haven't gotten a media one so far.

Texts are supposed to deduct .30 per message.

I try to avoid making/receiving actual voice calls as much as possible because those eat minutes like crazy. My friends and family understand this and usually text me. I use the voice service for emergencies and when I have to speak to business types.

I hope you bought one of the double or triple minutes for life phones.
