In reply to the discussion: What was the first pornographic book you remember reading? [View all]Chan790
(20,176 posts)51. I don't recall which was first, I remember which was best.
It was the literature fair project I wrote in HS for I Will Fear No Evil by Robert Heinlein that got me suspended for 3 days. The teacher, having read only the more mainstream Heinlein was not aware when I chose it what the subject matter was or exactly how filthy the book was. I was and chose it because LF projects were going to be presented on Parent's Night and I had some socio-political point about obscenity and erotica in art and culture I was going to make to the parents of my Catholic school peers. The narcissism and false-omniscience of 15 year olds in retrospect is galling.
Getting suspended for writing a book report on a filthy book is like vacation. I spent the time reading Fear of Flying and Portnoy's Complaint.

Wow! That was quite a bit more than I expected. And it's so old, from the 1800s.

I read 'Portnoy' about 10 years ago (at age 18/19). Brilliant, hilarious book.
