There are few things you should never keep in your house or make available to your cat. Thread, rubber bands. Some house plants are very poisonous to cats, same with some human food. Never feed your cat anything that has onion, garlic, chocolate or grapes with it.
Also, get her shots and spay her at the appropriate times. The Vet can help you here to know when. Also remember cats are obligate carnivores. Stick to wet food and make sure it's balanced and does not have more than about 10% carbohydrates (less is better). Oh, and cats do not make their own Taurine, so make sure whatever you buy has it.
