28. I'm a fan of the horror stories of M.R. James

who was one of the great writers in the English language. His short stories are very English and make you want to curl up in front of a roaring fire with a pipe or a glass of sherry on a cold night to read them. They are very atmospheric and "spooky" without being overtly horrific. The Mezzotint is a good one, but almost everything he wrote was great.





The wonderful 1950s horror classic, Night Of The Demon was based on James' story The Casting Of The Runes.



Here's an old black and white full length British horror film that I think is underrated, Burn Witch Burn aka Night Of The Eagle. It's based on the famous book Conjure Wife by Fritz Leiber.
