My real name is Ron, as some of you know. I was born and raised in
a small town in Walker County, Alabama, and I currently live in
Butler, PA. I worked as a long haul truck driver for 24 years, hence
the username. I first joined DU around April, 2004 as trucker4kerry
but on Nov 12, 2004 was able to change to my current username.

I've been a diehard liberal since 1968, having been raised by FDR
Democrats and having a progressive 9th grade civics teacher (yes,
they had civics in high school in 1960's Alabama!).

I admit, I haven't been as active in politics as I might have been, but
I have never failed to vote (I was first eligible in 1972) nor have I failed
to contribute money to the candidate of my choice, all the way from
McGovern to Obama.

One last thing: James Carville once said that Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh
and Philadelphia with Alabama in between. How right he is! Butler County
and Walker County went for McCain in almost exactly the same proportion.
Pretty much Alabama with snow!
