It's technically part of the Mario RPG franchise but really in name only as the spirit of those games is entirely different. There is also the Mario and Luigi RPG series on the (3)DS handhelds which I quit enjoy but again they don't have the amazing feel of the original. *snif* such great memories from that game. And the music!
