Even the kindest horse can hurt you badly if you get between the horses teeth and the fly that's biting him, lol. I know a 3rd generation horsewoman who was knocked out cold by her dead quiet quarter horse while she was wrapping his legs. Even if you know what you're doing, a momentary lapse of attention can cause a lot of pain.
And they seem to really like standing right where you are. If your feet happen to be there....ouch.
But some of us are bitten by the horse bug very early in life, long before we have a chance to develop fear of pain. It's a lifelong affliction, and not covered by any health care insurance that I'm aware of. So all we can do is live with it and devote all our resources to tamping down the symptoms.

So cute I want a dog or two but the landlord doesn't allow dogs except for service dogs

During the day, they sleep in a nice cage. In the evening, I let them hop around and do their binkys
