but I think is more a great horse! The older horses are soooo smart and kind. I'm sorry you couldn't keep your girl.

I rejected a lot of places due to lack of pasture. I don't have as much as I want, but 2 acres of lush pasture feeds my girl for about 6-7 months out of the year, and we grow decent hay in Maine, so I'm able to get it delivered and stacked right from my own town for less than half what they pay down in southern New England. Otherwise I'd be in trouble...

What I don't have here are accessible trails. I had 3 prospective trailheads -- the snowmobile trail looked like it might come right to my property on the topo map, but instead it comes 2 houses over and they stopped maintaining it some years back, to boot. One starts 2 miles down the road, which I thought would be rideable, but that was watching traffic in April, when people are still hibernating. And the 3rd is logging trails just 1/4 mile down the road, but they are beyond ungroomed and barely walkable by me and the dogs, impassable by a horse. Some day maybe they'll clean them up enough, but until then I'm out of luck.
