from your kid's point of view, the most important feature will be the games themselves. Most major titles will be available on both systems, but there will be a few big games that will be exclusive to one or the other. Asking your kid about which upcoming games he is most interested in, and then doing the research to see which systems will support them, is probably a wise move.
