9. I aboslutely cannot sleep without background "white noise"

I'm glad to see that there are others like me in this regard. I had to work over a decade of midnight shift and used a a small machine about the size of a pot-pie that made a nice sound. I used to use a fan, plus I liked the air moving over me since I'm kinda' thick blooded. Now even though I haven't had to work midnights in a while, I still "need" that gently whirring sound to sleep. If in a hotel, I'll run the A/C fan all night. If sleeping over in friend's or relative's homes where no fan is available ( and/or where I don't want to make requests like that ) I I have the hardest time sleeping. Ironically, I initially got this way to cover outside sounds. Now I can't sleep easily with absolute silence either.
