DU Album of the Day: Talking Heads - "More Songs about Buildings and Food" [View all]
First off Happy Birthday Jerry Harrison! He is the Keyboardist for the Talking Heads who is 63 years old today. So in honor of that I thought I'd pick another Talking Heads album for AOTD.
First - the crazy name of the album:
When we were making this album I remembered this stupid discussion we had about titles for the last album," Tina smirked. "At that time I said, 'What are we gonna call an album that's just about buildings and food?' And Chris said, 'You call it more songs about buildings and food.'"[4]
This is probably one of the best rated Talking Heads albums - receiving 5 out of 5 stars when Rolling Stones reviewed it back in 1978. That's pretty major stuff, usually reserved for albums RS believes will become classics and this album surely is. This came out in 1978 so the Talking Heads were still a bit of a blend between Punk and New Wave with a bit of Reggae tossed in to boot.
Some of the biggest hits:
Thank you for sending me an angel.
Take me to the River (a remake of an Al Green Song)
Enjoy!
