Christianity is rife with horrific tortures and executions. Remember, the concerns of the Inquisition, centuries later, were witchcraft and Satan worship, but heathens and apostates were always punished with extreme earnestness.

Christians were, after all, one step away from paganism in most cases. In the 7th century Saxon England,, many Christians were actually converted Pagans.
It was a most unkind world.

Love the series, especially Floki and Helga. Cute couple.
