1. Never heard of them, but please don't confuse "charter" with "private" school.

It's different in different states, and may charter schools are, in fact, public schools.

I know of several that share resources (computer labs, shops, athletic space) with traditional public schools, often to the benefit of both populations.

I hope your research reveals goodness, and if it doesn't I wish you well in making things right!
