In reply to the discussion: Orphaned kitty update. [View all]lunatica
(53,410 posts)60. May I suggest something a tad unorthodox?
I saved a dying kitty by holding him constantly and using a toothbrush I brushed him gently all over. I would even move his chin up so I could get at his neck and chest. A toothbrush is prickly, just like mama cat's tongue. He showed a remarkable improvement even though he hadn't eaten real food for a couple of days. A funny thing that happened is he latched on to one of my many moles because it must have looked like a teet and I just let him as he was purring by then. Once he did this though I knew he was ready for food so I gave him some warm milk. After that he recovered very quickly. He grew up to be a very handsome tomcat.

Nobody is, really, the bits don't develop enough until they're at least 4 weeks old

What a little doll! S/he may look a bit scruffy now, but definitely squee-worthy.
