(32,265 posts)Overall his condition is much improved, although he still looks a little ratty. His fur is thin in spots, but I'm thinking that was due to the flea infestation. He was encrusted with them. His eyes are looking much better with regular cleaning and are no longer stuck shut. His appetite is good, he's using the litter box pretty consistently and he's gaining weight. He is very alert and responsive and loves being petted and snuggled. He's playing more now and last night he even made it up onto the bed during the night. He was sleeping at my feet when I woke up this morning. I hadn't been encouraging that because his bottom is likely to need cleaning after a trip to the litter box, but that's getting better, too.
I've been feeding him canned cat food with water alongside. Last night I got some dry kitten food to go with and he has eaten a bit that, too. I'll soften it with water until he can eat it dry and then reduce the canned food to once a day.
A week ago I thought I was just giving a little comfort to a dying animal. I was sure he was too far gone to save.
I'll try to post more pictures this weekend.
