5. Back when the song was getting heavy air-play, I was fretting over a dysfunctional relationship.

You know, the whole: He's abusive, but I love him - kind of thing.

And, I was riding in my friend's car when Madonna's "Express Yourself" came on the radio.

I listened to the song and decided, "Yep, life is too short to spend it with someone who hits you."

I know, it shouldn't have required Madonna to tell me that, but I knew she'd just divorced Sean Penn for abusing her.....so I took the message more seriously for whatever reason.
