(23,975 posts)...is gorgeous! What a delightful update. I love happy rescue stories.
Here is my favorite one, and apologies if you have heard it before. We are about to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of a kitten rescue. Last August, our sons found an abandoned kitten on a cement footbridge in the middle of downtown San Antonio. They were there with their college soccer team for a pre-season team bonding trip, and were walking back to their hotel after dinner. No mom cat or litter mates to be found. They took him back to their hotel, got him some food and water, and gave him a bath. He was so little, the top of a Gatorade bottle served as a water bowl. The plan was to find a no kill shelter that would take him in and get him adopted.
All the shelters were full, and they were told that if he were brought in, he would be put down. The team said, "No way," and several players chipped in to buy the little guy a plane ticket, and they took him back to Carthage college in Kenosha WI. He lived off campus with our older son and 4 other players for that year, and now lives with us, making us the servants of 5 cats. He only weighed 20 ounces when the guys brought him back(which made him about 4 weeks old), and is now a big, muscular 14 pounds. He follows me around the house when he is awake, and is a big sweetie.
