(65,324 posts)66. He was already "self-tamed." Because he was so well-fed, despite
being feral, I suspect that one or more people in the neighborhood has been leaving food out for him. People sometimes do that, even if they don't want to actually adopt a cat.
I would also imagine that he has never been chased or treated unkindly by anyone, since he was shy but clearly not afraid. If he had been afraid he would not have semi-followed me and meowed at me as I walked around the area. The shyness was just the natural caution of a feral animal.
I am glad I found him while he was still young enough to not have an accumulation of bad experiences with people that would have made him harder to domesticate.

Boogie is definitely a survivor. I've never seen a kitten so far gone recover.
