35. I'm Fred. I'm a teacher.

I'm Fred. I have been teaching for a long time, but I still love it. It has become my life. My user name is from 20 something years ago, when I taught first grade (early childhood major), but I've been teaching fifth grade for 15 years. I eat lunch with my students and play games with them at P.E. I won't grow up.

I have two grown daughters, though, and I am collecting some wonderful grandchildren.

I was born in Florida and still live here, but I spent many years in Hawai'i serving in the hippies. My musical tastes are very eclectic, from the Dead to the String Band to Zappa to modern dub and electronic music. I still have a "Steal Your Face" decal on the back window of my aging, school-bus-yellow xTerra. I love baseball, surfing, and auto racing. I was a fantastic gardener in Hawai'i, but now the only thing I grow is old.

I mostly lurk here the past few years, but I'm a damn good lurker. One of the best.

I'm an atheist who believes in God, but not necessarily in that order.
