(4,616 posts)While I was living in Texas and working for an oil well service company I was looking at a website a coworker had left open on my computer and followed a link that led me to DU. The website he had left open was pretty horrifying (I won't mention it's name, but it started with an Fr), but it led me to here and I joined and have been a somewhat active member ever since. I read a lot more than I post, which is okay, because I don't get a lot of responses when I do post. Although I read GD more than anything else, I rarely post there because, quite frankly, it scares me.
I moved to the Alabama Gulf Coast after the birth of my grandson and I stay home with him during the day and work at a convenience store at night. My grandson has an Autism Spectrum Disorder, primarily speech delay, sensory disorder and possible hyperlexia. He is an amazing child to be around and I love to see the world through his eyes every day.
I have a Boxer mix dog named Seven, but we call her the destroyer. Explanation probably not necessary to anyone who has ever had a boxer. She is smart and funny and the most vocal dog I have ever owned. She talks a LOT. Not barks, talks.
I turned fifty this year, which is strange because except for my aching arm I certainly don't feel fifty! I remember when I thought fifty was OLD, and here I am.
I like a lot of music, both new and old, but if I had to name a favorite artist it would be without a doubt Leonard Cohen. My dream is to see him live some day if he ever tours the US again.
I like to watch Seinfeld reruns and I enjoy HIMYM, but other than that I usually only watch documentaries on television. I especially like the history shows on the history channel. I hate reality shows (other than Project Runway) and I secretly erase recordings made by my daughter on the DVR that have anything to do with Kardashians, Real Housewives of any locality or anything that has Jersey in the title, although I haven't seen any of those listed lately. When confronted about missing recordings, I don't know anything about it.
