5. Awww, the bond reminds me of the one I had

with my beloved Spinner. I had just taken a turkey out of the oven when I heard a banging at the door. Opened it up and no person was there, just a black cat looking up at me. I cut up the liver and gave it to him. It turned out that he lived with a neighbor but he decided that he belonged with me. He would come over to visit all the time and we'd spend time together. When we were moving out, he sat in the middle of the bare living room with his back to everyone quite obviously in despair, and I felt every bit as bad. My ex saw the neighbor and made the joking comment that we should take him and she agreed that we should too, she knew he'd be happier with us.

He was the love of my life. He slept beside me every night for 15 years until he passed over at 19. He's been gone for 12 years and I have other cats but I still cry every time I think of him.

As for the door banging, I still don't know how he was able to make such racket with his soft little paws. He would stand on his hind legs and just bang away.
