9. Arranged marriages are pretty much the standard in India

so it's not a love match, simply a contract.

Obviously the groom didn't live up to the terms of the contract.

What I want to know is if he did it on purpose to get out of the marriage?? Who knows, maybe the two of them cooked this up together if they didn't like each other at all. Easy way to get out of the deal!

More likely though is the fact that India's huge gender balance from female infanticide is catching up to the population and women are finally understanding they have all the cards...
