(135,425 posts)even if I hold my position and vehemently disagree with someone. It's just not worth the expending of psychic energy to be "mad" at someone on the internet. Life is too doggone short!
I just can't understand why people would get so PISSED at the poor old dear. I mean, sure, she could get a little quirky at times, but I put that down to her age and stage of life, and her life experiences. I never had a conversation with her where she got disagreeable with me, but I didn't get into a lot of heavy hoop-la with her, either. In any event, even when one disagrees, it's just not worth it to get so invested that one bursts a blood vessel over a difference of opinion! State your case, agree to disagree, and move on. I think there was a bit of piling on at times; she might not have helped matters by "misinterpreting" intent--but really, why beat up on someone who is old enough to collect social security? It's not worth the loss of "karma" points, IMO. The internet can be like that on occasion--a bit cliquish, a bit Junior High School, and maybe a bit of "Lord of the Flies" at worst.
People come here for a little conversation, fun and exchange of ideas, the drama and agita should be side dishes (at worst!).
I hope they put her name on that memorial page here--particularly after learning that she had mental health challenges as they likely played a role in her departure from this venue.
Life is short--we should enjoy, eh?
