Large and in charge. Tobin's commencement ceremony pics. [View all]

This is from before the ceremony when I was getting ready at the house. The tassel on my hat is mine and signifies a business degree. The tassel I'm holding up is from a close friend of the family. She graduated from another local college, Earlham, in 1958. That is her tassel from her graduation. She gave it to me when I was working very hard during my junior year as a source of inspiration. I wore the tassel pinned to my robe during the ceremony as you will see in a later picture.

Another from before the ceremony. The red and white cords on my shoulder signify that that I'm graduating with highest distinction for having a GPA of over 3.9. The red stole around my neck is called the stole of gratitude and is customarily given to someone after the ceremony who I think helped me the most getting to graduation day. I gave it to my wife after the ceremony. I told her what it meant before hand, but she didn't know I was going to give it to her until I did.

This is me walking up on stage to be symbolically presented with my diploma. I actually got my diploma in December of 2014, but commencement only happens once a year so I had to wait until now to participate in one. I'm to the right at the top of the stairs and they have just called out my name.

Hooray!

Me and my dad after the ceremony.

Remember the priest from Kenya I told you guys about? He attended my ceremony as well. He just received a master's degree in divinity last week from Earlham.
