(21,925 posts)31. Jimmy Stewart and June Allyson in The Stratton Story from 1949
about major league pitcher Monty Stratton who lost a leg in a hunting accident but just would not be defeated. He returned to baseball and managed to find success in the minor leagues for several seasons, playing with a prosthetic leg. It's a very uplifting movie and one of my favorites as a little kid in the 1950s.

I did not have to look it up. I saw it in a theater when it was new and have perhaps overly fond
