He's discussed it, btu he could discuss it for a week and I still wouldn't understand it.
He's like Richie Havens...they both sang songs that could have been sung by anyone. It's what they did with them that mattered. "Ain't No Sunshine"...that whole "I know, I know, I know" riff...that jumped right out of the car radio, no one had done that. "Lean On Me"...even if you don't consider its use in the movie of the same name...look at how many people remain encouraged and inspired by that song, decades later. But I guess he proved to himself whatever he felt he needed to prove, and that was all he was interested in.
