For those of you not keeping track, my current employer is cutting hours and talking lay-offs. They are also a pain in the ass to work for. I decided to get out while I can still do it on my terms. I can't afford pay cuts or a lay-off.

I am a truck driver and I found a local job hauling a flatbed. I'm all clear with the background checks, drug test, and physical. All I have to do now is take a driving test. The new company has agreed to let me do that before I leave my current employer. I'm a little nervous about it. I've been driving a dump truck for the last 4.5 years so I've been out of tractor-trailers for a while. I think I'll be okay, I drove tractor-trailers for 14 years before my current job, but I just wanted to have that bit of insurance just in case.
