It's usually no big deal. My 2000 f150 has had the light on for five years. I have a faulty o2 sensor that doesn't affect anything other than the light.

Oh, the only reason I'm going there first is because they're the ones who did the oil change.

I would check the oil (with the dipstick) first before taking it to a mechanic.

It depends. You can buy a code reader on Amazon.com or get one at the local auto parts store

get it checked. if it's a honda civic, it may just be that the O2 sensor died. otherwise it could be
