but I really found myself having to push through it to the end. With Daredevil, I just couldn't pull away and stayed up late watching way too many episodes.

It was dark but at times just too psychological. It felt like it was trying to make a point about abuse and addiction and PTSD without letting us get that point ourselves in the course of the story. In other words it felt like it was being pushed instead of organically pulling us in to the experiences.

We also both had a hard time getting into the characters. Now Luke was interesting and frankly so was Trish, but Jessica wasn't near deep enough for us. She was a snotty cynic with an alcohol problem before Kilgrave and she remained one afterwards. There was nothing I could see that really motivated her. Luke protected those he loved and had his own code of honor. Trish was trying to overcome issues from childhood and wanted to save people genuinely. Jessica just wanted to stop Kilgrave but she didn't care who she might hurt in the process.

Maybe things will evolve more in a 2nd season but sadly, it just didn't grab us like Daredevil did.
