I was worried with the first few episodes that we'd have the same weaker storyline but by episode 3 in season #4 they really fine tuned the writing and came back fighting with strong storyline.

Every season, and I can say this without spoiling anything, is the quest for Frank and Claire to both equally achieve global domination. When the storyline gets bogged down in the extra stuff the season plods along, like with season #3. But when they focus on that one key message (and those people who stand in the way) then the writing is sharp, the storylines are wowza and it makes the viewer cringe that they will have to wait another 364 days until they find out what happens.
