I've never been a grits devotee, but my sister always used to order them and inevitably would come back the apologetic response by the waitress/waiter that the grits were "instant"... so that was the first thing I thought about and had to smile.

She always added a dab of butter and found them edible anyway. Me, I'll pass, but bon appetit!
