i'm elana.
even though i have a low post count i've been lurking here since the 2004 election and became a member in 2006.
i was apolitical until shrub invaded iraq then i got pissed off and started getting involved.
i'm 37, single and childless by choice. my life heretofore is a snooze and i'm perfectly ok with that.
i'm a graphic artist.
i lost my job of 14 years in feb 2009 and was unemployed until may of this year.
i'm the black sheep of my family because i'm the only true liberal (if my mom wasn't so apolitical she'd be a liberal too but she wants nothing to do with politics). i'm also the only atheist.
i consider myself a secular humanist, but a misanthropic one, because in most cases i prefer the company of animals to humans.
i heart bernie sanders, alan grayson, keith olbermann and rachel maddow for their political acumen.
i have celeb crushes on hugh laurie, clay aiken and stephen colbert - long story short, they are all multi-talented, hysterically funny, incredibly charming, deeply philosophical, and what i like to call old souls with peter pan syndrome.
i also heart neil degrasse tyson because he's the smartest mofo in the western hemisphere.
cats rule!
