Our first two lived to be 17 yrs old each. We have a male and a female now, both are 5 yrs old. The female is very sweet and wants to be around myself or my wife all the time. She is extremely well behaved and can be trained to do most anything. The male lives for chasing a ball or frisbee. He would do it every waking moment if he could. He is scary smart. He has a lot of different words figured out, so my wife and I have to spell things out.

OP
My favorite breed is mixed. If you are looking for a great companion, you can't beat a mutt, IMO.
