10. I love that first moment when the babies pick their heads up

I always imprinted my foals as soon as they took their first breath. It is so magical, even if it can be messy.

Even the problem birth, the one I had to help deliver, was amazing. After all we went through with that baby - she had leg problems which we had to treat for months after she was born - we couldn't sell her. She's now 18 and still going strong, though she is spoiled rotten. NOT a good thing for a mare that is 15.2 hands and weighs 1500 pounds.
