29. First of all moving is not an option for me...

San Francisco is so expensive that rent starts at around 3,000 a month. I got a deal because my place is in a rent control building which is far less than that. My neighbors upstairs are probably paying 5,000 a month.

There are no real cheap places to live in California. People are on waiting lists just to live in the city. Which is why many landlords try and take control of the situation by jacking up their rent prices. Only Rent Control buildings have the lower rent, and only if you have lived there for a long time do you benefit.

If I were to move it would have to be out of the state. No place is really affordable unless I went to Oregon, Washington State or Nevada. I happen to love living in San Francisco but if I moved out, I would never be able to afford to ever move back. Moving to a place in the city means expecting to pay the starting 3,000 a month rent. That's more than I would ever make. So I am stuck here with a slum Land lady who doesn't even live on the property. I can not afford a hotel for one night in this city! Its for the tourists who expect to be paying a very high price.
