and they had gotten as a present an assortment of chocolate candy with various insects in it.
They were little square chocolates, each wrapped individually, and each one had either ants, grasshoppers, crickets, bees or other insects as well.
A friend of mine was there with me
(He was the one who had given the chocolate insects as a gag gift)
I got the munchies and looked for something sweet to eat in the kitchen cupboard, found the assorted chocolate squares, (but didn't read the labels), and I ate several of them.
Soon, my friend came into the kitchen, and, upon seeing the empty wrappers of the 4 or 5 chocolate squares I had eaten, he started laughing uproariously.
"What are you laughing at"? I asked.
He said, "do you know what you just ate?
"Chocolate candy," I answered.
"Those are the insect candies I bought for Jim & Mary Ellen," he said.
"What?" I replied.
Then, he looked at the candy wrappers I had thrown away, and said:
"It looks like you preferred ants, because you ate 3 ant chocolates, 1 bee chocolate & 1 with crickets"
I immediately started boiling water to make tea, to "wash down" the insects, which made my friend laugh even louder.
(The only thing I remember about how they tasted was that they had a nut-like taste)
