(40,416 posts)It was one of the best places on the planet to witness professional baseball. Now all that are left are Wrigley Field, and Fenway Park. Sad!
Wonderful Tiger Stadium:

A view of Kaline's corner in right field.

Note: if your team flies to right against the Tigers, you'd dare not try to tag up from third. Al Kaline could fire a strike from the right field wall and threw out many trying that.
Hot dogs at Tiger Stadium were only ever called Red Hots. "Get yer Red Hots! Red Hots here. Get yer Red Hots!" It was always a burly guy because he carried a tank of hot water around the stands with him to keep the dogs hot, and the buns moist.
You could have anything you wanted on your Red Hot as long as it was mustard and/or fresh onions. The works included both, but nothing more. Some idiots would ask for ketchup. The vendor would inevitably growl, "Ketchup is at the concession under the stands." Heaven help the poor guy who asked for relish.
Red Hots here!! Get yer Red Hots!
Enjoy! Hope the Tigers win this season. Not looking too good right now.
My best to you all.
