In reply to the discussion: Speaking of Hot Dogs 🌭 What do You Like on Yours? [View all]Awsi Dooger
(14,565 posts)65. Can't eat hot dogs or bologna
I break out with sebaceous cysts on my neck and face. Very scary because it's so sudden I can actually feel them forming. It's like a twister within my skin and then a hard and sometimes painful lump, depending where it is.
Fortunately I was diagnosed fairly quickly when this surfaced in 1995. I was eating bologna every day courtesy of my roommate who loved bologna sandwiches and chips. An internal medicine specialist did an evaluation, asked me questions, and pinpointed it to a chemical preservative in hot dogs and bologna.
I only strayed once and sure enough the cysts returned.
When I could eat hot dogs I liked them fried with the buns lightly toasted and plenty of relish, ketchup and chopped onions.

Nice to know. A local market sells everything for Chicago style, but the buns are shipped

It's a 'local' meat sauce. It's pretty similar to a chili or Coney sauce but...

Um, I WASN'T speaking of hot dogs. I'm a vegan and I don't make a habit of consuming carcinogens.
