I haven't laughed at a MacFarlane show since season one of Family Guy. Paul Feig did a great Sc-Fi spoof called Other Space in 2015. Highly recommend if you're a fan of Sci-Fi and comedy. It was funny as hell and built a really interesting universe. I think it reminded me of some of the best Sci-Fi shows like Red Dwarf. The only problem that "Other Space" had was it only aired on Yahoo streaming service so no one saw it. Interesting that MacFarlane's series has many of the same plot and world building that Other Space utilized.

I was really excited to see Discovery and love the cast when it was first announced. Because Bryan Fuller was originally developing the series with Kurtzman. Now with Fuller's departure, I don't look forward to Kurtzman's stewardship. The big problem I have with the show is the bulk of the show will only air on CBS All Access in the U.S. I'm not willing to pay for another streaming service for just one show. So I'll watch Discovery's debut on CBS network and buy the DVD which will probably be cheaper. Especially, since they're going to split the fifteen episode first season into two arcs. So the first season will probably go for longer than four months total.

Orville has potential. As a 1-hour sci-fi comedy-drama it's threading a needle. I wish it luck. Gidney N Cloyd Sep 2017 #17
