In reply to the discussion: Am I the only one who really hates commercials? [View all]NCjack
(10,297 posts)56. You gotta adapt. Steaming TV w/o commercials could not be watched, but for
the Pause, Stop/Rewind/Forward functions. Broadcast, cable, and dish TV could not be watched, but for commercials. Those provide breaks for visiting, going to the kitchen for beer and chips, and going to the john. However, nothing beats the old TV commercials from the 50s thru the 60s. Those gems told a little story in less than 90 seconds that was so good the I watched them to conclusion before getting up for personal business. I still laugh when I think about the Alka-Seltzer commercial with a bus (or truck) driver popping up from his sleep in his bed at home, thinking that he was on the road and driving. And the aluminum foil ones that sponsored the TV western spoof "Maverick".

I feel bad for parents with kids. Most families can no longer afford to take them to a ballgame.

Yes, not a fan, but some are very creative. I tend to record most of what I watch so FF

On television, I read through all of them. They're so loud, you can tell when they're over.

I don't know why they call them sales events when they're obviously a Sale-a-Bration!

When I was younger (40+ years ago), I was a connoisseur of commercials on TV.
